The weather gods are looking down on the Western Bay this weekend as the region hosts one of its biggest family-friendly summer events tomorrow.

Ticket sales for the second annual Summerfest have "gone through the roof" with event organisers planning for a sell-out concert of 12,000 people.

From 10am until 9pm on Saturday, Blake Park will be full of home-grown talent and performances from artists who have made it on to the international stage.

Event organiser Tracey Rudduck-Gudsell, chief executive of Creative Tauranga, said she was feeling "super excited" ahead of tomorrow's second annual festival.

"It's all going really well ... and we're looking forward to some really incredible performances from some talented musicians and artists.

"Ticket sales have been going through the roof the last few days. It's typical of last-minute-Tauranga and that doesn't make it easy for event organisers like myself to get to sleep at night but no, I'm really happy with how things are."

The day starts at 10am with an official opening followed by Packing Heat Battle of the Bands.

Local country singer Georgia Baker Trebilco will perform before Eyes of May and acoustic singer Lydia Hollister-Jones. Afternoon entertainment from Leilani Taula and New Zealand's Got Talent finalist Fletcher Oxford will keep the crowd entertained before the headline acts take to the stage in the evening.

Soul and RnB singer J Williams will perform at 6.50pm, Kiwi boyband Titanium will follow at 7.15pm and rock band I Am Giant will perform at 8pm.

Ms Rudduck-Gudsell was expecting a sell-out crowd of 12,000.

Tickets are still available on the Summerfest website and they will be available at the door, if there are any left, Ms Rudduck-Gudsell said.

"It's looking like a really high turnout for families and youth under the age of 18, which is great because they're the ones this whole event is for," she said.

Ms Rudduck-Gudsell said some foreign visitors from Colorado, Jamaica, Sweden and Germany had recently come to Creative Tauranga and decided to stay on for the festival.

"With not long to go it's a really busy time but it's so exciting and we're looking forward to bringing another first-class event to Tauranga."
