Darlings of the festival circuit, Hipstamatics, are performing at the Jazz Festival's Hurricane party next month.
The Auckland-based, 10-piece soul and funk group are known for high-energy, non-stop shows, making them festival favourites.
Their colourful presentation and big sound, augmented by a talented horn section, two female singers alongside lead singer Dillon Riesterer, adds up to musical dynamite.
"They bring something unique musically and in terms of their presentation. All of the band are schooled musicians as well as superb entertainers. So as well as great musicianship, groove and outstanding soling, they have choreographed dance moves and incorporate high energy dynamics - musical zaps and surprise that are truly entertaining," says Liam Ryan, vice-president of the Tauranga Jazz Committee.
"Hipstamatics get the crowd moving, dancing and laughing and singing - they are very interactive. Anyone who has seen them lately knows that they get the whole crowd up and moving within the first three or four songs."
