A Tauranga teenage model is the new face of Casio's Baby G watches in New Zealand.

Alice Chuter, a 17-year-old Otumoetai College student, will be smiling from magazine pages after winning a photo shoot for the role.

Miss Chuter travelled to Auckland in May for a fun and funky photo shoot for Casio brand Baby G after winning a modelling competition early this year.

The photo shoot involved a half-day at Auckland's Kingsize Studios, with photographer Olivia Hemus. Former Fashion Quarterly stylist Rachel Morton selected different looks for Miss Chuter inspired by global Baby G campaigns.

The teenager said the shoot had been a lot of fun.

"I got to try on lots of different outfits and watches and stuff, I really enjoyed it," she told the Bay of Plenty Times.

"It's my second modelling experience, I won this shoot after taking part in the Girlfriend Model Search, they chose the top five and the Baby G shoot came from that."

Her friends and family think modelling for Baby G was "quite cool".

"They always make jokes about it but I think my parents are quite proud."

Miss Chuter said she had always thought of being a model, but also aspired to be an actor. She hopes to gain some more modelling experience this year before starting university.

"I've always wanted to do acting since I was little but I'm also interested in the media industry. I hope at some point this year I can get some more experience but I'll definitely still go to uni next year, probably to do a communications course in Auckland."

Casio marketing manager Harley Anderson said Miss Chuter stood out for a number of reasons.

"Firstly, we loved her fresh, natural look, we could have shot the campaign there and then.

"Secondly, Alice has an awesome personality - she is always smiling and has a great natural confidence. This is a really important quality for campaign shots, we need models to look like they are enjoying themselves."

Mr Anderson said the whole team commented on how great she was to work with.

"She took everything in her stride, taking direction from the photographer and stylist with ease.

"We are very pleased with the images that came out of the shoot.

The photos were likely to be used for Baby G promotions in magazines and in social media, he said.
