The West Indies Cricket Board yesterday dumped former captain Jimmy Adams and four others from the team for the first test against South Africa, starting in Georgetown, Guyana, on Saturday morning (NZ time).
Adams, vice-captain Sherwin Campbell, batsman Daren Ganga, legspinner Mahendra Nagamootoo and fast bowler Colin Stuart are out of the team which recently lost 5-0 to Australia.
Batsmen Chris Gayle and Shivnarine Chanderpaul, fast bowlers Mervyn Dillon and Reon King and legspinner Dinanath Ramnarine have been recalled.
Chanderpaul and Dillon have both recovered from foot injuries that sidelined them during the series in Australia.
