An airline passenger who unleashed racial abuse on fellow flyers, bit a policeman and made lewd gestures to an air hostess, has been jailed.
Jasbir Singh Bharaj, 46, was labelled by a flight attendant the "worst passenger I've ever encountered" after he went on a drunken rampage on a flight from Dubai to Birmingham.
The Telegraph reports Bharaj was sentenced to 11 months' jail for his behaviour on board the Emirates flight in September last year.
The court heard he threatened to punch an air hostess in the face and he caused NZ$5750 worth of damage to an entertainment system.
He also made sexually explicit gestures to female members of staff and was seen dipping his finger in wine and rubbing it on his genitals.
Bharaj also embarked on a series of racist rants and called police officers "white w*****s".
Upon sentencing, the judge said Bharaj "demanded more alcohol and swore repeatedly even though there were four young children behind".
He said: "You shouted 'f*****g Muslims - send them back to where they came from' and 'f*****g Isis'.
"When you landed you were abusive to police and bit PC Ingram on the arm."
Satvir Aujla, defending Bharaj, said he was "ashamed and remorseful of his actions".
