Drug agents have raided the office of wrestling star Chris Benoit's physician, according to a report by People magazine.
WWE superstar Chris Benoit killed his wife and his seven year old son over the weekend and then killed himself.
Prescription medicines were found in the house, and accordingto Atlanta's Fox 5 news investigators said Dr. Phil Astin's name was on prescription bottles.
"There's definitely a nexus between the death investigation and the steroids that were given to Mr. Benoit," Special Agent Chuvalo Truesdell told People.
Drug Enforcement Administration agents spent around four hours on the premises on Wednesday night, examining records and removing documents, Truesdell said to People.
"The doctor is a person of interest to us at this stage," Capt. Mike Pruitt, commander of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office drug task force, told People.
Astin told the Associated Press on Wednesday he had been treating Benoit for low testosterone levels which were probably a result of previous steroid use.
WWE said in a statement Benoit passed a random drug test in April.
"The last test that Chris Benoit took of a random nature was in April which he was totally negative," WWE Chairman Vince McMahon said on NBC's Today morning program. "That doesn't mean that he wasn't taking prescription medication and perhaps even steroids when this happened. We don't know."
Meanwhile, McMahon has called Benoit a "monster" in his interview on the Today show.
McMahon said Benoit was known as "a mild-mannered individual. ... There was no way of telling this man was a monster."
"Steroids may or may not have had anything to do with this, it's all speculation until the toxicology reports come back" McMahon said.
The murder-suicide is said to have happened over Friday- Saturday in the Benoit's suburban Atlanta home. The bodies were found on Monday.
Benoit reportedly cancelled two wrestling events over the weekend due to a family "emergency."
He also sent "curious text messages" to some of his friends, according to a statement, which pressed authorities to check on the family.
Police are still searching for a motive behind the tragedy and toxicology results should be back in a few weeks.
