After 34 years of selling cars in Wanganui, Harvey Round Motors is now fixing them too.
The Dublin St business has opened up a workshop next to its car yard following requests from customers and a opportunity to capitalise on its customer base.
Managing director Antony Rountree said a lotof customers had suggested they get into the workshop side of things.
"That's probably the main thing, we get a lot of repeat business here," Mr Rountree said.
The expansion, which had been in the pipeline for about a year, also meant they could take on two extra staff members, Mr Rountree said.
It's a second new aspect to the Harvey Round Motors business, having recently expanded from used cars to a line of new vehicles from Indian manufacturer Mahindra. When the business made that move last year the workshop was part of its mid-term plan.
"It gives us a service centre for the new vehicles but probably, more importantly, a servicing centre for used cars as well," Mr Rountree said.
The workshop had been open for business since June 3. Harvey Round Motors celebrate 34 years in business next month.
