A multi-coloured ribbon blocked the way as pre-schoolers queued up to try out the new slide at Stepping Stones pre-school on Thursday.
The ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new slide co-coincided with Autism Awareness Day which is celebrated by "Multicoloured Mayhem" an initiative where students and teachers wearmyriad colours to honour the differences of people suffering from autism spectrum disorder.
"We went for a big ribbon and we have been decorating it with different shades of food colour - the children are very excited about using the new slide," said supervisor Robyn Gunn.
Next door at the Sommerville Centre they were holding a fundraiser for Autism Awareness and the sounds of sizzling sausages combined with squeals of delight from the pre-schoolers trying out their new slide.
