When Hospice Whanganui staff began planning a twilight gala six months ago they wished for fine weather and plenty of visitors.
Their wishes came true on both counts and public relations manager Valda Brechmanis said the March 7 event could not have been better.
"For over two hours, our spectacular gardens were alive with activity and visitors came through our gates to enjoy a relaxed evening and a spot of twilight bargain-hunting."
Brechmanis said the community donations for the event were so generous that a storage container was hired after the designated storage space was filled to capacity.
Hospice chief executive Karen Anderson said the gala raised over $11,000 which is designated for patient care.
"The people of Whanganui have once again so generously supported the work of Hospice by giving to the gala.
"It was great to see so many people in our beautiful gardens on such a glorious day, relaxing and enjoying themselves."
Brechmanis said Hospice Whanganui wish to thank the community for supporting the gala and everyone who worked to make it happen.
"We want to acknowledge and thank the Hospice volunteers and staff who gave so much of their time to the planning and setting up of this event.
"We are grateful to every one of you for your assistance with an event that has caring for others at its heart."
Hospice Whanganui's Tawa St shop is holding a "Shop Till You Drop" sale on Wednesday, March 20, with $1 deals and half-price furniture on offer.
