People wanting to go trick or treating tonight are in luck, as the periods of rain are set to clear today.
MetService meteorologist Derek Holland said the sunny spells would increase today and it should be a "pleasant" evening for most of the region.
"It should be a nice night for anyone wanting to engage in some Halloween activities," Mr Holland said.
Tomorrow is forecast for some fine spells but a chance of rain later in the day.
"A trough is approaching the country but the East should be fine - but northerlies do develop."
Mr Holland said Wednesday through to Friday would see a change in the weather patterns with a westerly flow bringing "fast-moving features".
"There is patchy rain on Wednesday but Thursday and Friday should be mainly fine with some scattered rain falling on Friday evening."
Mr Holland said there was a risk of some frost with this cold snap, as the temperature last night dropped to 5Cand tomorrow would be 4C."The cold air gets flushed out by late Tuesday, as the next feature moves in."
Crasborn orchard manager Lewis Houkamau said the business did not think the frost would eventuate and it wasnot on high risk at this stage.
"We have gone on alert a few times for frost this season but it has not eventuated into anything. So far the season has been good and I think there is toomuch wind around at the moment for frost to occur."
Mr Holland said the forecast for Hawke's Bay this week was "your typical springtime weather".
