After four straight days of action, there were 16 teams still hunting for a title from the 35th Chartered Clubs National Women's Indoor Bowls Tournament, and plenty more looking forward to letting their hair down last night.
After the singles, pairs and triples tournaments, which started on Monday with singles, yesterday was the final championship in the fours grade, with 61 teams meeting for the start at Jubliee Stadium.
By 3pm the last eliminators were being completed to get down to a final group of 16, who were expected to play through until around 8pm to find the champions.
After that, it was back to the St Johns Club, who are the official hosts, for a chance to relax and have the final presentations.
In the triples competition on Wednesday, the Napier RSA team of Sue Fleming, Sue Taylor and Dora Warren were the winners.
Fleming, a former North Island singles champion in provincial bowls, and her team won the final 12-6 against Otorohanga Club's Carol Lovell, Lyn Martin and Trish Lang.
It was closer in the semifinals as Napier RSA narrowly won 10-8 against the Hamilton Working Man's Club team of Donna Reynolds, Ashleigh Tanfield and Audrey Murphy.
The Otorohanga four won their semifinal 8-5 against the Masterton Horseshoe Club, which consisted of the pairs champions Elva Simonsen and Marilyn O'Neale, who teamed with Janice Leighton.
