Despite a week's worth of rain beforehand the Wanganui Stockcar and Speedway Club got through their full programme to send 2014-15 off with a bang at the Oceanview Speedway on Saturday night.
Six titles were decided across the superstock, stockcar, production saloons, sidecars and youth ministocks sections.
There were no major stoppages for heavy pileups, as club president Alan Luoni agreed drivers were more focused on securing final points.
"That, and it was towards the end of season, people looking after their cars as well."
"It was a good, quick meeting ... we had 24 races in three hours."
Luoni said the volunteers had done a good job making sure the track was ready for racing after the bad weather, and Oceanview saw a good walk up crowd, funds raised on the night going to help with the recovery of 21-year-old driver Kyle Heibner. There was only one injury in the stockcar racing, with a Palmerston North driver getting treatment for his collarbone.
