A man has been charged with using a firearm against police amongst myriad drugs, receiving and driving charges following his arrest on Monday night.

Erueti Chase Nahona, 30, appeared in Whanganui District Court on Tuesday afternoon, represented by lawyer Anna Brosnahan.

Brosnahan made no application for bail on behalf of her client and no pleas were entered before Nahona was remanded in custody.

Nahona will appear in the court again on May 7 where he will be expected to enter pleas to nine charges.

During his appearance, Nahona will also appear before a judge in Hamilton via audio visual link to receive a sentencing indication stemming from offending in the Waikato area.

Whanganui Police appealed for information regarding Nahona's whereabouts on April 1 this year, stating that he was considered dangerous and should not be approached.

A follow-up appeal two days later stated that he had a number of warrants out for his arrest related to driving offences and a breach of conditions.

Two other people were arrested at the same address as Nahona for unrelated matters, a 31-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man, both facing drugs-related charges.
