After missing a year due to high flood water, the Whanganui Multisport & Triathlon Club's Bridge to Bridge Swim is back on tomorrow afternoon.
The swim, which has both a 3.2km and 1km option length, will start from the Aramoho Whanganui Rowing Club and head south towards the township, finishing alongside Union Boat Club.
"The quick ones will be down there in just under half and hour," said organiser Jimmy Hildreth.
While there is an overall winner, the silver trophy is given to the first swimmer home who is competing without a wetsuit, which was Georgina Bryant in 2017.
Bryant is likely to be coming back to defend her title.
The 2016 winner was a J Bridger.
Last year, the race was called off the Thursday before due to the Whanganui River reaching its highest levels in 12 months.
The high-running water and extra debris made the river unsafe.
The first date the trophy was awarded was 1927, although Hildreth said there are other names on the cup that date back as far as 1910.
Racing starts at 2pm.
