Whanganui rider Tarbon Walker is itching to bring his newfound 600cc form to the upcoming Suzuki Series and national championships.
The former Suzuki Gixxer Cup class rider (for 14 to 21-year-olds on the same Suzuki machines) has stepped up to Formula 2 and sits second in the Auckland Motorcycle Club's Summer Series with one round to go on December 2 at Hampton Downs.
"I had a pretty good weekend at Hampton Downs, ending the weekend with a round win and now sit second in the Summer Series with one round to go," Walker said.
"It has been a big step up from Gixxers to my Kawasaki ZX6 and 600cc racing. It's like a step from 12-horsepower to 120hp."
Walker is nine points behind Auckland Nathanael Diprose in the Summer Series and has a great chance of hauling him in at the final round in December.
"It will be tough, Nathanael was completely dominant, winning everything in F3 last year.
But my Summer Series results are very encouraging ahead of the upcoming Suzuki Series and national championships. I'm all set to go in both competitions. The Kawasaki is owned by Lance Goodger from Pukekohe who does all the setting up for me to ride. I'm really looking forward to it," Walker said.
The Suzuki Series kicks off at Bruce McLaren Motorsports Park in Taupo in December 8, while the national championships follow in January.
