October is proving to be a busy month for the Whanganui Jazz Club.
They have moved from the RSA to the St John's Club and have teamed up with Lucky Bar + Kitchen to host international artists.
New York saxophonist Joey Johnson and bassist Jakob Dreyer reunited with New Zealand based drummer Mark Lockett to play at Lucky last Thursday and visiting Canadian band The Shuffle Demons will play there on October 18.
Jazz Club president Ken Chernoff says they will deliver a great show to a Whanganui audience.
"The Shuffle Demons are a band that blends virtuosic jazz and funk playing with eye-catching costumes and over the top stage antics to produce an incredible show."
Said to be a hit at festivals all over the world, they are a crowd-pleasing, full-on musical group that backs up wild stage antics with phenomenal playing by some of Canada's most talented musicians.
"The band has been playing for more than 30 years, and it is a privilege to have them play in our town as part of their current festival tour of New Zealand and Australia."
Shuffle Demons: Lucky Bar + Kitchen, 53 Wilson St, Thursday, October 18. Show starts at 6:30pm, with dinner, snacks and full bar service from 5pm. General admission $20, discounts for Jazz Club members and students.
