Whanganui's paraclimbing exponent Rachel Carter has been nominated for two prizes at the 2018 Attitude Awards, being held in Auckland on November 28.

In its 11th year, the Attitude Awards are a televised event celebrating the achievements of New Zealanders living with disabilities.

They can recognise artists, athletes, employers, young people and anyone else who has made a positive impact.

There are eight categories including Youth Spirit, Emerging Athlete, Sporting Spirit and Entrepreneur.

The 35-year-old Carter is nominated for the Spirit of Attitude award and the Emerging Athlete award.

She was the first New Zealander paraclimber to represent the country in an international competition when she came fourth in her division at the USA Adaptive Climbing Championships in Columbus, Ohio, last month.

Carter will now attend the IFSC world championships in Innsbruck, Austria, this September.

With principal sponsor the ACC, the Attitude Awards will be held at Auckland's Sky City in a black-tie gala of more than 600 guests, and will eventually be screened in a 60 minute special on TV1.

Nominations close on July 20.
