Local artists have banded together to support the Whanganui Women's Network with a "soulstice" event at Lucky Bar + Kitchen this week.
The line-up of local performers will all bring something different to the mid-winter celebration on Wednesday night.
Five-piece group Awa, featuring taonga puoro (shell flutes) will perform along with solo artists Aydie Hollland, Taara Green and Charlotte Melser.
There will be music from duo Tai Uru, followed by poetry from Airini Beautrais whose poem Pakaitore was recently selected for a national anthology, Best New Zealand Poems.
DJ Madalyn Newton will provide sounds to fill the dance floor and round off the night, which will be emceed by Christina Emery.
All the performers are giving their time and talent to support the Whanganui Women's Network which provides more than 5000 consultations and support to local women each year.
Winter Soulstice Songfest: Lucky Bar, 53 Wilson St, Wednesday, June 20. Doors open at 6.30pm and performances will run from 7pm until 10pm. Door sales $10.
