Carols by Candlelight at Virginia Lake is expected to be a perfect event this year with a good weather forecast and fine voices getting tuned.
"We ask everyone to make a gold coin donation and this year the proceeds will be supporting Brass Whanganui and St John," said organiser Sue Gardner.
Each year the Wanganui Rotary North Club organises the event with support from local business, and this year ANZ Bank and Summerset in the River City are lending their support.
Summerset manager Shelley Walls said the retirement village staff have offered face painting services.
And Ms Walls, known to have a fine voice, will do her bit for the team by leading some of the singing.
"We also have 50 choristers made up of members of local choirs," said Ms Gardner.
"Bruce Jellyman will be conducting and he has promised that some Brass Wanganui members will be there with their instruments."
Despite windy conditions last year, the punchbowl at Virginia Lake attracted a crowd of 1500 for the carol singing.
"We are expecting more this year - Santa will be there of course and families can bring along a picnic tea."
Wanganui Rotary North Club members will be on hand to collect donations and hand out candles and song books from 7.15pm on Sunday December 10.
