"Will u marry me Kellie."
When the marriage proposal comes on a bright red banner - flying behind a plane - it's hard to say no.
So Whanganui administration assistant Kellie Ormsby said yes.
She had a feeling her partner Carl Ross might propose sometime but she did not expect it to come from above.
Mr Ross, 42, had asked her to meet him for dinner on the beach last Saturday.
A pair of Cessna planes, belonging to the Wanganui Aero Club flew overhead while Ms Ormsby was waiting. One was towing a banner - it read "Will u marry me Kellie."
The other plane dropped a small parachute with an engagement ring attached.
"I was completely shocked and surprised but I said yes," the 31-year-old said.
Ms Ormsby's children Quentin, 13, Trista, 10, and Mr Ross' daughter Letesha, 10, were with her.
"That must have taken a lot of planning as well as they are rarely all together at the same time."
Ms Ormsby said the children are all delighted for their parents and had no idea he was planning to propose.
