The owner of a missing dog has been told of about 10 sightings but still hasn't found his pet.
John Blake lost his dog Storm while fencing near Belmont Golf Course on June 8. The 12-year-old dog is large and coloured a reddish tan. He has a grey muzzle and wonky back legs that shoot sideways sometimes when he walks.
Since Mr Blake's story about losing him was in the Chronicle he has had a lot of phone calls from people who have seen a dog that may be Storm.
The dog has been seen in Seafront Rd twice, in Thatcher St, in Aotea St, in Smithfield Rd and in Toi St. One person even videoed a very similar dog that was in Nixon St and then crossed Dublin St Bridge.
"In all these sightings, one of them must be him."
Mr Blake lives in Nile St, and said his dog may have been making its way home. He has thoroughly searched the area where Storm went missing, which is "pretty wild" with old quarries, holes, water and fallen trees.
He's worried the dog will get hurt on a road, and was out until 10.30pm on Wednesday night driving the streets to look for him.
By now Storm will be hungry, and may be disorientated. He may have been picked up by someone, or be injured.
"He could be dead, he could be anywhere, but I'm bloody sure he's still alive. I'm just hoping he's resting in front of someone's fireplace. He's very friendly and he would go with anyone at this stage," Mr Blake said.
He is planning to offer a cash reward for his dog if it is not found soon. He can be contacted on 021 215 1565.
