Whanganui District Councillors will receive a modest pay increase to reflect increased duties.
Mayor Hamish McDouall has re-instated a council committees structure which was abandoned under the administration of former Mayor Annette Main.
Mr McDouall said he expected councillors to attend all committee meetings, workshops and other forums.
Deputy Mayor Jenny Duncan recieves the biggest increase and will earn $41,348, up from $39,848 per year.
Committee chairs will earn $37,760 per year, up from $36,260 for portfolio holders under Ms Main's regime. Councillors go from $31,878 to $33,378.
The pay structure will be reviewed to possibly include meeting attendance fees, either as part of or in addition to the new renumerations.
The mayoral salary remains the same at about $110,000 per annum, and is set independently of council by the Higher Salaries Commission.
