The Wanganui Floral Art Group sold posies as Mother's Day gifts at the River Traders' market on Saturday morning.
They cost from $3 to $8 and the flowers and foliage all came from members' gardens, committee member Rebecca Hodson said.
The posies proved popular with children, teenagers and middle-aged people buying for their mothers in rest homes.
"There were so many people wanting to buy the designs that we had to keep going all morning," Ms Hodson said.
The stall raised $608, and the group plans to use some of it in holding the Designer of the Year regional flower show in Wanganui in November.
Meanwhile, cafes around the city were busy as Sunday lunch provided the perfect opportunity to say "Thanks, mum".
