A band of home-schooled students from rural Taihape won the open section of Taihape's Got Talent a week ago.
The five-member band Faith sing mostly Christian influenced music, though they are not affiliated with a particular church.
Faith comprises Jonathon, Jeremiah and Joshua George, Taisha Gorman and Caleb Lazarus.
Father of the George boys Paul George said the group was immensely talented.
"My sons didn't get it from me. My father was a talented musician but it skipped a generation when it came to me."
Mr George said the group had written an album and were waiting for it to be recorded.
"But right now their biggest problem is agreeing on what they will be performing at the big Rangitikei final in the Bulls town hall on election night."
Taihape Community Development Trust manager Elizabeth Mortland said the talent night had been so successful that there was an overwhelming response from the audience wanting the competition to be repeated next year, instead of every two years.
There were eight entrants, and 50 spectators at the Taihape Area School function centre.
Mrs Mortland said without the volunteers' support of the all the people involved including the entrants, events like Taihape's Got Talent would never happen.
For the big final night in Bulls, where the winners from Marton and Bulls will compete against the Taihape finalist, a bus was being organised from Taihape to take everyone down, she said.
"People who want to go just need to come into the trust office and put them names down."
Faith won the open section with Leah Dehar second, while the youth section was won by Sophie Luoni with Danielle Deighton second. The judges were Paul Holcombe, of Taihape; Debbie Booth, of Palmerston North; and John Seagar, of Auckland. Spencer Hall was the MC.
