A missing dog in Gonville was found a week later, right around the corner from where she escaped.

Lily the 3-year-old fox terrier-Maltese cross went missing on May 1 from her Kawatiri Ave home ... only to wind up at her old house in Koromiko Rd about 300m away.

Owner Roanne Kenny was suffering "sleepless nights" wondering where the beloved family pet had gone, and was overjoyed to get a call yesterday from Landlords Link saying the people renting her old house had found her.

Ms Kenny jumped in the car to pick up Lily, and said the pooch was shaking.

"She was really excited."

Ms Kenny let her children stay home from school with the dog. "You stay here and watch her after I go to work, I don't want to let her out of my sight."

Ms Kenny still didn't know how Lily escaped, as their property was fully fenced and Lily wasn't given to wandering.

"I was ready to throw all her blankets out, and the dog roll in the fridge."

"I'm just so happy to have her back."
