A man who chased three young boys home from a skatepark and smashed a window with his skateboard appeared in Whanganui District Court yesterday.
Michael Luke Schrieber was at the skatepark along Anzac Parade around 10pm on January 29 when he began speaking to three young boys who were also there, said police prosecutor Sergeant Stephen Butler.
When the boys left the skatepark, Schrieber followed them to an address where one of them lived.
They left the address to find Schrieber still following and ran through some bushes to another house, where they told the occupants they were being followed.
When Schrieber arrived on the property he struck one of the windows with his skateboard, smashing it.
Schrieber also faced a charge of resisting police.
Defence lawyer Anna Brosnahan said there were significant mental health issues for her client.
Judge David Cameron sentenced Schrieber to 40 hours' community work and ordered him to pay reparation of $100 for the broken window.
