Popular Whanganui author Murray Crawford is relaunching his novel Rooster McGurk: Unsung Colonial Hero (& reluctant virgin).
It's an irreverent romp thru Titokowaru's war by Flashman contemporary Rupert McGurk, a colonial soldier who gets himself into all kinds of trouble — shades of Kimble Bent with loads of humour!

"The intro states that it comprises the memoirs of a previously unknown soldier which were recently discovered tucked into the bottom drawer of an antique Victorian chest at a Wanganui auction room, so Brian Hayward has kindly agreed to give me a spot at the opening of his next antique auction (Sunday September 9 at 10am)," says Murray.

This is not Murray's only foray into Whanganui history, with two novels featuring the very real Granny Dalton, fictionalised for the occasion.
