The early bird will catch a tasty reduction in ticket prices for the Whanganui Literary Festival main event from September 18-20.
Early bird season tickets are available from Monday, July 13 to Friday, August 21 for $70 ($60 for Friends of the Whanganui Literary Festival - please quote your membership number.) The cost includes all sessions except Fringe, Children's and catered events.
Featured authors are: Keynote speaker Nicky Hager; moa expert Quinn Berentson; sociologist Dr Jarrod Gilbert (Canon Media Awards Best Blog 2015); novelists Charlotte Grimshaw and Rachael King; sustainable gardening guru Sarah O'Neil; paranormal romance writer Nalini Singh; crime and sports author and columnist Paul Thomas and television journalist Tim Wilson.
Catered events to be bought separately are: Dinner with the Stars on Saturday, September 19 and High Tea and Gumboots with gardening writer Sarah O'Neil, Sunday, September 20.
Friend of the Festival, Joy Hay, says it pays to buy a season ticket.
"I've found if you've got a season ticket [discounted for Friends] there's the chance to go and hear people you wouldn't have gone to if you are paying for each session individually. Some of those people were outstandingly good speakers and made you think - Gosh yes, I should read that."
Witi Ihimaeara called Whanganui's iconic literary festival New Zealand's best regional literary festival, so don't miss out - hurry on down to the Royal Wanganui Opera House. Bookings may also be made by internet, telephone or fax.
