A trout fisherman is disgusted people are dumping carcasses of marine fish in a local river.
The man, who wanted to remain anonymous, came across a quantity of dumped fish heads and bodies on Sunday evening while fly-fishing on the Waiohine River, a kilometre downstream from SH2.
"I suspect it's recreational anglers," he said.
"Why do they have to do it?
"It wasn't a lot of product, but couldn't they afford to dump the fish [properly]?
"If they have got enough money to put petrol in a boat, then surely they have enough money to put it in a rubbish bag and take it to a dump."
He described the dumping as "gross laziness" and "pathetic".
"When river levels are going to drop and kids are swimming there.
"If I had spotted the bugger, I would've had words."
