Stewart Rehabilitation Services has moved into new premises at 290 Tristram St, Hamilton - next to the Redicare Medical Centre.
An official opening was held this week. Waikato District Health Board manager older persons & rehab units Barb Garbutt presided.
Stewart Rehabilitation Services is a not-for-profit trust that provides a programme for people who have sustained a brain injury. The trust holds contracts with ACC and the Ministry of Health. Approximately half the clients have sustained an injury due to accidents and the other half have acquired a brain injury due to a stroke or brain tumour.
The organisation was founded by Mr Alex Stewart (QSM) after his son sustained a brain injury in Australia. On their return to New Zealand he found that there were no services available.
Check the trust website at www.stewart-rehab.org.nz which will give further information into services etc.
