Kate Sylvester returns to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia this morning, with a collection that looks to star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet. The designer, who last showed at MBFWA in 2013, was drawn to the emotion
Clever Kate is also a well-known fan of the written word, with classic literature stimulating many past collections; her current in-store one is famously based on the work of author Donna Tartt. This season it’s as much William Shakespeare as Baz Luhrmann and Franco Zeffirelli, whose popular films in 1996 and 1968 interpreted the famous love story. Expect romantic lovers in today’s show: think a dreamy Juliet in rose-patterned lace and Romeo’s blue floral shirt that’s pure Leonardo DiCaprio.
