From over 8000 entrants of an extremely high standard, we are pleased to announce the winners of the Scenic New Zealand photo competition.
First place goes to Jeremy Beckers' outstanding shot of Taranaki from the Pouakai ranges. It is a unique view of this iconic mountain: Bathed in warm, autumnal sunlight the reflection adds a degree of tranquility that contrasts superbly with the drama of the dormant volcano.
Second place: Malcolm White's shot of Kerosene Creek (complete with feet)
Third place: Tim Wilton's surreal photo of taken up Mt Taranaki
The three winners all show unusual views of New Zealand that get away from the traditional scenes that adorn calendars and postcards, but still manage to illustrate the beauty and drama of our amazing country, wonderfully captured in a moment that will last forever.
For the top three images, the prizes are:
- First prize - an Air New Zealand Boutique Mystery Break including return domestic flights for two, a rental car and two nights' accommodation at the boutique resort worth $1298.
- Second prize - a Sony Cyber-shot HX5 Digital camera with built in GPS for location tagging photos, worth $699.99.
- Third prize - a Sony Bloggie HD video camera with 360 degree video capture worth $389.99.
In addition, the top twelve photos will be displayed at Auckland International Airport.
