A New Zealand spa visited by celebrities including Heidi Klum, Justin Timberlake, Pink, Usher and Justin Bieber has been named New Zealand and Oceania's best hotel spa in the inaugural World Spa Awards.
Ina Bajaj, founder of 10-year-old East Day Spa, at the SkyCity Grand, said she was immensely proud of her team.
"We are honoured to receive one of the highest accolades in the spa industry," she said.
The awards are a companion event to the World Travel Awards. Votes were cast by professionals within the spa industry, senior executives, travel buyers, tour operators and hundreds of thousands of spa users in more than 90 countries.
Runners up in the New Zealand category were Chuan Spa at The Langham Auckland, LeSpa at Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa, So Spa at Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour and Spa at the Pullman.
Other finalists in the Oceania category included spas in French Polynesia, Fiji, Australia and the Cook Islands.
SkyCity's Auckland general manager, John Mortensen, said he was proud of the partnership. "East Day Spa has always provided an exceptional service that is more than worthy of this accolade."
