A back road near Waipukurau was blocked on Wednesday after a truck-and-trailer crashed into a bank and rolled.
Police were called to the crash Maharakeke Rd near shortly before 9am.
The road was blocked in both directions after fertiliser from the fully loaded truck and trailer spilled on to the road.
A bystander said the truck had been heading north, but crossed the centre and left the road, hitting a bank and tipping the entire unit, leaving it facing south.
Traffic was diverted down Station Rd by traffic control and the spokesperson said at the time it was likely the road would remain closed for a few hours.
A CHB District Council spokesperson said the road had re-opened just after 3.30pm but the cleanup on the roadside and in the ditches was ongoing.
A St John Ambulance spokesperson said one person was assessed and treated at the scene for minor injuries.
