The chief scientist for the Environmental Protection Authority Dr Jacqueline Rowarth spoke to The Country's Jamie Mackay today about the threat of animal-free proteins.
However, before she tackles this serious topic Jamie needs to know - is Dr Rowarth a fan of the Bay City Rollers?
Once this pressing matter is addressed, Dr Rowarth deals with the matter at hand.
Animal-free proteins could threaten New Zealand's meat industry as some believe the taste is just as good as "the real thing".
However, Dr Rowarth says this is "nonsense" and that it is easy to tell if you're eating a beef burger as opposed to a manufactured product.
Finally there's a bit of time to look forward to Fieldays which Dr Rowarth describes as a "wonderful event."
She encourages people to attend the event and see that New Zealand agriculture is focussed on sustainable food production.
