It seems there will be no relief for the tinder dry conditions today that have been causing fires around the region lately.
Metservice forecaster Cameron Coutts said the region would see a few spots of rain at the most during the day, with a North Westerly flow and high cloud.
"We're not going to see too much unfortunately. The north westerly is still blustery south of Napier and Hastings.
"Hawke's Bay is heading to the mid 20s, with a slight change in air mass and high cloud making it cooler," Mr Coutts said.
He said the much needed rain is possible towards the end of the week.
There won't be any sign of rain tomorrow and winds are expected to change direction to a south easterly, but will ease.
"Hopefully places that need the rain will get it soon," Mr Coutts said.
