The Taihape Road has re-opened after a crash between a tractor and truck near Hastings caused the road to go down to one lane.
Police were called to the crash on the Taihape Road, north-west of Hastings at about 11.30am.
It is understood the loaded logging truck and tractor collided. The tractor driver is now is in a serious condition in hospital. The truck driver is uninjured.
Taihape Road, just west of Fernhill, was down to one lane while the logs were being cleared off the road.
Traffic flow was monitored and traffic was let through as and when the traffic built.
Police suggested drivers took an alternate route if possible or delay their trip if they were able to while the road was being cleared.
