If you want to see how farming was done in days gone by, check out horse ploughing at Pirongia on Saturday.
The team at Pirongia Clydesdales (McLure Street) is pleased to be hosting the annual horse ploughing day from 10am.
The event is being held in conjunction with the Waikato Heavy Horse Society and will have a training and learning focus.
Anyone interested in learning more about horse ploughing is invited to come along and learn how it's done.
A number of heavy horse combinations will be ploughing throughout the day, including a former New Zealand Horse Ploughing Champion, and there will be Clydesdale wagon rides available ($2 pp).
There will also be a display of vintage tractors on the day.
This year's event will once again support the Philips Search & Rescue Trust with donations being taken on the day. Visitors are encouraged to bring along any spare coins to support this wonderful cause.
The on-site Coach House Country Cafe will be open and serving delicious ploughmen's lunches and quality coffee.
Free entry - all are welcome.
