For its fiscal first quarter ended September 30, Microsoft's earnings fell 42 per cent. It also warned that second-quarter and full-year results would fall shy of analysts' projections.
For the September 30 quarter, Microsoft earned $US1.28 billion, or 23 cents per share, compared with $US2.21 billion, or 40 cents per share, in the period a year ago.
