More than 200 people lost emails after a failure with telecommunications provider Orcon on Friday.
Orcon chief executive Scott Bartlett said 266 customers lost emails not yet downloaded to their PCs when a server and its back-up failed.
He said customers were offered $100 credits and further compensation was being considered.
