Muz's Bin Inn is doing its bit to help the environment by offering a permanent 10 per cent discount to customers who fill their own containers.
Murray Shaw (Muz) has owned the wholefoods and specialty groceries store for 13 years.
He says it's time the store started cutting back on plastic.
"There's too much plastic - everything's wrapped in it. The less plastic we use, the better for the environment."
Mr Shaw is on the Bin Inn group board and presented the idea to offer a five per cent discount to customers who fill their own containers.
The idea was taken on-board and the five per cent discounts are now rolling out across Bin Inn's 37 stores.
Mr Shaw is going the extra mile by offering a 10 per cent discount to Te Awamutu customers.
"A 10 per cent discount is more inviting and will make a difference to customers."
He isn't worried about a loss in revenue, saying the discount will attract more customers.
Customers travel from Cambridge, Otorohanga and other Waikato towns to shop at Muz's Bin Inn.
"I really love it - I enjoy meeting lots of different people.
"Pop in and fill up your containers - but make sure to ask us to weigh your containers first.
"We look forward to seeing lots of people with containers to fill."
