Hyundai has revealed the all-new fourth generation Hyundai Santa Fe for the first time in New Zealand at Fieldays.

The outgoing Santa Fe has been New Zealand's best selling family SUV for the last three years, and the new seven-seat SUV looks set to continue that trend with a complete ground up redesign, bigger dimensions and world first safety features.

Visually the new Sanata Fe adopts Hyundai's fresh SUV-family design language first seen on the Kona with thin headlamps and signature Cascading Grille. From the side, there's a feature line running the length of the SUV from the front headlights to the rear taillight, which have also been redesigned. And in the rear there's a new bumper design with dual exhaust pipes.

Hyundai New Zealand General Manager Andy Sinclair says the fourth-generation Santa Fe is the cornerstone of the proud SUV heritage that Hyundai has built up in New Zealand, with the new model providing one of the best-in-class safety packages, roominess and innovative comfort features.

"The Santa Fe is immensely popular because it suits our kiwi lifestyles so well – with over 19,000 already on our roads being testimony to that," said Sinclair. "The new version is expected to once more lead the 'family SUV' market as its recent predecessors have. We have worked hard to equip the vehicle, paying close attention to what our New Zealand drivers expect and what fits our active lifestyles."

A choice of diesel or petrol engines will be available, both with improved efficiency and refinement, and all models will be fitted with Hyundai's next-neneration HTRAC all-wheel-drive system.

"We know Kiwis like to explore – it's an integral part of our heritage – and so all New Zealand models will have all wheel drive to enhance the experience," said Sinclair.

The new Hyundai Santa Fe range will come fitted with the company's latest SmartSense active safety and driving assistance technologies including Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with pedestrian detection, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Rear Occupant Alert and Safety Exit Assist.

Rear Occupant Alert and Safety Exit Assist are world-first systems designed to keep rear seat passengers – particularly children – safe," said Sinclair. "Rear Occupant Alert monitors the rear seats to detect passengers and alerts the driver when leaving the car, helping to prevent tragic situations such as pets or children being left in hot vehicles."

The Santa Fe also features Hyundai's new full head-up display, on-board infotainment system that integrates all navigation, media and connectivity features amd wireless inductive charging technology for mobile phones and small devices.

"We believe the new Santa Fe will suit our active, busy lifestyles as never before. The vehicle makes a strong impression in traffic, and equally so at the beach or up the ski field. This is truly New Zealand's SUV, and we are excited to be able to offer it through our nationwide dealer network from August" said Mr Sinclair.

The new Santa Fe will launch in dealerships across New Zealand in August with pricing to be announced before the model's official launch.
