It's time to get racing for entrants of the Taranaki Masters Games running and walking events says Albie Jane, of the Stratford Runners and Walkers group.
"We have a great mix of competitive and social competitors, there really is something for everyone," he says.
The running and walking events will be held over two days, with competitors having the option of being involved in three different races. On March 17 the Stratford Runners and Walkers club will hosting a 10km road race beginning at the racecourse. On Saturday, March 19, there will be a 5km race and a half marathon starting from the Stratford High School stadium.
Anyone is welcome to be involved, no matter what fitness level you are. Competitors are welcome to either run or walk.
The Stratford Runners and Walkers Club has been hosting these events since the Taranaki Masters Games were established, Albie says. While the club's season hasn't started yet, "many of our members will be completing the courses".
Albie says in the past the running and walking events, which have a minimum age of 30, have had a great number of participants and "we are trying to encourage as many people as we can to get involved".
The Masters running and walking events will be held on Thursday, March 17 and Saturday, March 19. Entry forms are at www.taranakielectricitytrust. co.nz/masters-games.htm.
