CMK Accountants Stratford Flyers had a team of 25 swimmers attend the Bay of Plenty Championship meet from July 17 to 19.
With over 400 swimmers attending the meet, coach Aimee Woodhead says the weekend was tough with long sessions. Competition was fierce for finals places and medals, especially in the 15 and over open category, which a group of the Flyers swimmers had moved into.
Aimee says all squad members rose to the challenge with many personal best times throughout the squad which was a fantastic effort as it was only three weeks after their own Taranaki Champs. Eleanor Gilbert, Chris Johnson and Claudia Taylor were in Taranaki record breaking form.
Eleanor Gilbert broke Ashley Rupapera's 10-11 years 200 Breaststroke record (was 3.00.10 new record 2.59.99).
Chris Johnson broke Julian Weir 14-15 year 200 Medley record (was 2.15.05 new record 2.14.95).
