Tane Hunter brought a message of positivity to Stratford last week.
The world can seem full of bad news, but actually, says Tane Hunter, there is plenty of good news to be had.
Tane was in Stratford last Thursday night, talking about the future and how the world is better than people might think.
The Stratford Business Association, working alongside theTaranaki Chamber of Commerce, brought the event to Stratford last Thursday night where Tane spoke at the Shakee Pear.
Tane told the audience that despite headlines that are full of doom, gloom and despair, the world is actually getting better.
"We're on the verge of eradicating many diseases, and we are closer to world peace than at any other point in human history."
Tane, who is a cancer researcher by day, co-founded Future Crunch with South African political economist Dr Angus Hervey a few years ago. The message they want to bring is of a future which is exciting and one to be optimistic about.
"Science shows us this, there are lots of great things happening in science, but somehow it doesn't make the headlines so it is easy to feel pessimistic about the future. We want you to change that thinking and instead look at the world in an optimistic way."
When it comes to technology, Tane says people can see it as a negative regarding the world of work as they imagine a world where robots will replace human workers.
