Jichelle Health and Beauty owner Leigh Cleland says she is blown away to have received four awards at Saturday night's Stratford Press Romeo Business and Service Awards.

The business was named as the Stratford Press Supreme Service Excellence winner, winner of the TGM Creative Best Presented Business award, winner of the Stratford Paper Plus Non Retail Best Service Business and runner up in the Dairymaster Milking Systems Best Retail Service Business category.

"I was absolutely blown away — it was breath taking. It was just fabulous — a real surprise, says Leigh.

"It was such a great night.

"I still can't believe it really — it's just so amazing."

Leigh, who is originally from England, opened the business up more than 20 years ago after purchasing it during a holiday in New Zealand.

It was the first beauty salon to open in Stratford and Leigh has never looked back.

She says the key to running a successful business for so long was passion, keeping up with what is going on in the market as well as stocking great products.

"I just love what we do.

"I also like to believe that I treat everybody the same — that we are warm and welcoming. Some of my clients have no become my friends.

"We have a very relaxed but professional business and that's how I will strive to keep it.
"I have a lovely team here and we are obviously doing something right. It's a real boost for us and to win four awards is pretty special."

More than 420 people gathered at the Stratford War Memorial Hall for the enchanted forest-themed awards evening.

Held in conjunction with the Stratford Business association, the night's master of ceremonies was award-winning comedian Vaughan King and entertainment was provided by local band The Blistered Fingers. Nominations were marked against strict criteria by three external and impartial judges and finalists were selected based on points.

Stratford Business association Chairman Peter Dalziel says it was a great night.

"It was a highly successful night — a great event. everybody seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves and MC comedian Vaughan King kept the night buzzing along with his humour and the band was also great."
