Don Oakes of Don Oakes Motors says while some businesses in town may be "tightening their belts," he is happy to be expanding his motoring business.
Don has been in the industry for over 30 years and he and his wife Margaret have owned Don Oakes Motors in Stratford for the past six years.
It is this experience that makes them confident in their decision to take over ownership of Stratford Auto Electrical in June this year.
Don says when the opportunity arose for them to purchase the neighbouring business it was an easy decision.
"The location is ideal and the two businesses go hand in hand together."
Don adds that he and Margaret, who are both Stratford locals, didn't want to see another business close on Stratford's main street.
"Empty shops in town is not a good look for our community. I know that things are tight for a lot of people, but as a community we need to stick together, support each other and shop locally."
The two businesses will provide a one stop shop for customers whether they are looking for a new car or wanting to spruce up their current vehicle.
Don says Stratford Auto Electrical will still offer the full range of automotive electrical services as well as the addition of vehicle lubricants, valet services, warrant of fitness checks and a courtesy car available.
He adds they will also be the exclusive stockists of Battery Town products in Stratford.
Margaret says existing customers of the auto electrical business should not notice much change as they will still receive, "the same great service from the same great staff".
Margaret says the staff have been a brilliant help to her as she learns the ropes.
"I am very lucky to have the support from the staff, they have been very patient with me."
Margaret and Don agree they look forward to seeing all current and new customers at both of the businesses. "Stratford is a wonderful place to own a business and we are thrilled to be able to now offer our loyal customers a wider range of services," says Margaret.
