"So many children experience the loss of family members or friends, cancer doesn't just impact adults."
Kerri Dickson, organiser of the Daffodil Day Disco this year, says the Stratford Daffodil Day Committee wanted to give the younger generation a chance to get behind the fundraising as well.
"The luncheon is always a great success, but it is nice to have something that is just for the children, so we introduced the idea of a disco last year, and are bringing it back again this year," she says.
Kerri says the disco gives children the opportunity to come along, have fun and help contribute to the community fundraising efforts in an age appropriate way.
She adds it is thanks to some great community support that they are able to hold the event.
"The Stratford Rugby and Sports Club have very kindly given us the use of their facilities to hold the disco, while Ray and Berna of Raybern Entertainment are providing the DJ services for the night."
The theme for the disco this year is princesses and pirates, with Kerri saying she hopes to see plenty of youngsters in costume on the night.
Face painting will be available throughout the evening and there will be glow sticks and food on sale as well.
"So bring your pocket money, your dancing shoes and a great attitude and enjoy the night."
Children's Disco: Friday, August 21. Stratford Rugby and Sports Club. Gold coin donation, 5pm - 8pm.
