After being told for the past year "You need to get a haircut!" Stratford High School student Cameron Luckhurst, 17, has made the decision to use the shaving of his long locks to raise money for Taranaki Cancer Society.
Like many others Cameron has had experiences with family members who have suffered from cancer. Which is why after so many comments about his hair, "Honestly, I haven't had a haircut in like 13 months", Cameron decided to turn this into an opportunity to do some good for a cause close to his heart.
Cameron has a goal to raise - at least $1000 in an internet-based fundraising plan. He has set up a Facebook page where he will post updates on the progress of his plan, as well as the official bank account details for those who would like to sponsor him. Once his goal is reached Cameron plans to video the event and post it online so that everyone who got behind and supported him can see the shaving of his head.
Anybody who would like to join Cameron in shaving their head for sponsorship is welcome to. "I would like to encourage people to join me in this, I feel like it is a great cause and I hope the money I raise can really make a difference for those who are suffering."
