LYN Webster of Pig Tits and Parsley Sauce is helping Stratford High School French students raise money for their trip to New Caledonia.
Lyn will demonstrate how she makes her home made cleaning products at a fund raising evening next Tuesday, June 22 at 7:30 PM in the Stratford High School assembly hall.
Entry to the evening is $10 if tickets are bought beforehand from Stratford High's office, Paper Plus or at the Stratford Information Centre. Door sales will be $12.
The profit from the evening will help the twenty-one students get to New Caledonia in September. The students have been fundraising since the beginning of the year for this once in a lifetime experience. They will spend four days in Nouméa and seven days in Poindimié, a small town on the east coast where they will stay in the homes of students from Collège Raymond Vauthier.
As well as fundraising, the students have been writing letters in French to their host families and finding out about New Caledonia, New Zealand's nearest French speaking neighbour.
The experience in Nouméa and especially in Poindimié will be a culturally enriching one. The students will use their French in real situations and on the east coast they will experience first hand the culture of the Melanesian people.
Lyn Webster has appeared on Country Calendar, had a regular column in the Taranaki Daily News and has inspired thousands of people trying to cut down on their grocery bill while being kinder to the environment.
